America's Most Renowned Historian - David Barton Part 2

David Barton is the Founder and President of WallBuilders, a national pro-family organization that presents America's forgotten history and heroes, with an emphasis on our moral, religious and constitutional heritage. WallBuilders is a name taken from the Old Testament writings of Nehemiah, who led a grassroots movement to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem and restore its strength and honor. In the same way, WallBuilders seeks to energize the grassroots today to become involved in strengthening their communities, states, and nation. David is the author of numerous best-selling books, with the subjects being drawn largely from his massive library of tens of thousands of original writings from the Founding Era. He also addresses well over 400 groups each year. His exhaustive research has rendered him an expert in historical and constitutional issues and he serves as a consultant to state and federal legislators, has participated in several cases at the Supreme Court, was involved in the development of the History/Social Studies standards for states such as Texas and California, and has helped produce history textbooks now used in schools across the nation. Korach Parashat 2010-11 Message - To Serve and Live
This is my message for Parashat Korach 2010-11 called to Serve and Live. It goes into what it means to serve YHWH and the pitfalls and lusts that people chase after.Join us as we look at this week's Parashat ( Parsha - Torah Portion ). If you are Jewish, Torah Observant, or Christian, you can still glean some insight from our messages as we study the complete Bible taking into account patterns and mechanics which are universal in all three faiths. Our Bible study methods incorporate study on multiple levels often called Pardes or PRDS which in Hebrew means paradise. They are the four levels of understanding in the scriptures: Peshat, Ramez, D'rash, and Sod. I do not use the traditional understandings of these four levels as my foundation comes from studying the patterns in the whole Bible. Join me, in humility as we study the Word of Elohim ( God ), and search for the truth of YHWH ( YHVH, Yahweh, Yahuah, Yahwah, Yahveh, Hashem, Gd, Yahovah, Jehovah ) and Yahushua ( Yeshua, Y'shua, Yahshua, Yahushuwah, Jesus ) Shalom! How Deeply Do Your Friends Affect You?
Korach: 6/22/11 HOW DEEPLY DO YOUR FRIENDS AFFECT YOU? The Invisible Life Changer We are all in need of companionship. Spinoza said that man is a "social animal." Aristotle called man a "political animal." But the question is: how much are we dependent on our friends, and how deep is their impact on us? We don't need sociologists to tell us how good or bad friends can dramatically change your life. Especially in your formative teen years, one right or wrong friend can alter the course of your destiny. But even later in life, friends play a critical role in so many areas of our lives, in ways that are often unbeknowest even to ourselves. Understanding and appreciating friendship -- its deep impact on us and the importance of choosing the right friends -- is the subject of Rabbi Jacobson's class. Please join us as he gleans lessons from the Korach story (in this week's Torah portion) on how wisely choosing your friends can affect your entire life. But in order to choose we need to first appreciate the meaning of a true friend... |

Grass Roots vs. Hierarchy: Do We Need Leaders?
Korach: 06/24/09 The dilemma has raged through the annals of history: Over the millennia we have witnessed the abuse of absolute power and authority, often to the point of disaster. Yet, it seems that people on their own, without leaders, cannot manage their affairs. Conflicts of self-interest will most often lead people to tear each other apart. Communism and other isms have suggested remedies. All were doomed to failure, often causing more damage than the abusive systems they were trying to correct. At the heart of the issue lays the question: If all human beings are equal, why do we need leaders? Due to the abuse of monarchs and religious authorities many argue today against all forms of hierarchy -- claiming that all power structures ultimately become corrupt. But should we do away with leadership and just rely on grass root management? How then do we prevent chaos? It seems like a catch-22: Leadership leads to abuse and corruption; lack of leadership leads to chaos and fragmentation. Is there an in-between solution? On a personal note -- the question is one of individual dignity: Are we self-sufficient or dependent on others? If each of us has our own resources to navigate life, why do we need leaders to guide us along the way? And if we do need leaders, how do we assure that they are appropriate leaders who do not abuse their power? In Rabbi Jacobson's fascinating class, he traces the roots of this conflict between leadership vs. individuality to Korach's rebellion ... |

Two Types of Hell: Ice and Fire Part 1, 6/9/10 Korach
TWO TYPES OF HELL: ICE AND FIRE 1st Of 2 Part Series How do you react when you are very annoyed? Do you turn cold or hot? Do you respond with giving the cold shoulder and the silent treatment? Or do you burst into a fuming rage? Each of us has different personalities (genetic or acquired) and respond differently to confrontation. Some of us close down and become cold and detached; others get heated up and angry. What does these different reactions tell us about ourselves? Can we do anything about our "icy" or "hot" natures? What implications are there from being "cold blooded" or "hot blooded?" The sages tell us that there are two types of hell -- one of ice and one of fire. What is the difference between the two, and above all -- what relevance do they have to our lives today? Please join Rabbi Jacobson's class as he dissects the story of Korach -- whose name interestingly also means "ice" -- and discover the secret behind your personality type. Whether you are "cold blooded" or "hot blooded" or in between -- you will learn the fascinating roots of ice and fire, and how you have the power to create your own "hell" or "heaven" of both ice and fire... |

Leadership, Power and Arrogance
Korach: 6/25/08 The Power of Love vs. The Love of Power Does power corrupt? Is leadership incompatible with humility? Can we find true leaders today? What do you do when you can't find a leader to turn to for guidance and direction? Join Rabbi Jacobson as he analyzes Korach's rebellion against Moses and gleans lessons about leadership, power and arrogance, and above all -- it's relevance to our lives: How each of us contains a figurative Korach and Moses, and how we can discover the true power of leadership - the power of love as opposed to the love of power |
