How to Read The Cantillation Notes/ Troupe for The Haftorah

This video is very key. In order to learn how to read a haftorah, you have to learn the notes on how to read it. Every word in every Haftorah has a note and if one learns how to remember the sound of the notes, then all one has to do is say the words with the notes which will lead to learning how to read any Hafotrah. |

This is me chanting the Haftorah that is chanted after Torah portion Balak, including the related blessings, plus a few explanations/tips on chanting for Shabbat. The video itself, was NOT recorded on Shabbat. (In honoring the Sabbath, Jewish law does not permit writing, photography, recording, or financial transactions.) The Haftorah itself can be read (in Hebrew & English) by clicking here: www.mechon-mamre.org (text). This video is nothing fancy, just an example for people who are learning to chant Haftorot. This video assumes that the person practicing already can read Hebrew in a basic manner and is just beginning to learn to read/sing trope or cantillation markings. Non-Hebrew English readers can read the blessings and Bible verses along in English at the links above. Most Chumashim will have the trope/cantillation marks included. |

Weekly Haftorah- Parshas Nitzavim (Vayelech)

This week's Parsha is a double parsha of the 2 shortest parshiot in the Torah- Nitzavim and Vayelech. When these 2 parshiot fall out together we read the Haftorah for Nitzavim. I made a minor typo in the video. This Haftorah actually comes from chapters 61-63 of the prophet of Yishayah (isiah). Also, I apologize if the pitch of my voice isn't like last week's. I lost my voice this past Shabbos and I am still recovering. Enjoy the Haftorah andif there any questions or comments, please let me know so we can handle it in the most appropriate way.
