Ofer MizraChi, his nephew Alon, and me, Kim Carson, set out on an adventure today! We visited Beit Hatfutsot Museum For The Jewish People in Tel Aviv, Israel today. This display, a Morrocan Torah on animal skin. Alon Mizrahi explains what it represents..... During the war, many Jewish people changed their name, denounced their Jewish roots or at the very least hid the very customs they were trying to keep alive. It was all in the name of survival. Walking through this museum brought with it many emotions, as history oftentimes can do. There were the faces of some of the people who perished, who were killed in the Holocaust. You cannot visit Beit Hatfutsot without experiencing a great deal of the ranges of emotion. Through the many passageways and hallways of the museum you can learn about customs that were explained, heritage, tradition and the strength of the Jewish people celebrated. There was also an area for research. A place to search names, cities and countries that might provide information and help to fil lin the missing pieces of a family tree. It is always much easier when family members before you began their search years earlier. Not as easy when you are the first. Alon Mizrahi's children, and great grand children and great great grand children will always know from where they came, their history, their own personal stories of survival. This is where a person's journey can begin....Beit Hatfutsot...The Museum For The Jewish People in Tel Aviv.

STUDYING WITH THE RABBI - As Little Children
Our children come to the Beit Knesset each day to study with the rabbi. Synch: From around the age of five we would study with the Rabbi until the age of Bar-Mitzvah, the girls would study with us, but they would study only until the age of ten and afterwards they would go and spend some time at home, a couple of years until they get married usually. Our learned Rabbi teaches them not just how to read the Torah, but also how to walk in its ways -- to love God and their fellow man. Yeshua called for the little children to be brought to him. And he taught us that we too need to be as little children to gain entry to the kingdom of heaven.

THE BAR MITZVAH - About My Father's Business
biblelandshop.net One, very special occasion that takes place in the Beit Knesset is the Bar Mitzvah of our sons. In this rite of passage, a boy is called to read from the Torah before the community for the first time. Synch: The Bar-Mitzvah was a very, very special thing because at that moment, you actually become a grown up, and when you become grown up in our culture, it means you're going to face all the community, you will be able for the first time to read the Torah, in front of all the people in the synagogue which is a very, very important and responsible thing. You don't want to mess up. Your parents are sitting over there and they are listening and you need to do it in a very good way so that they have the honor and of course, the honor that you have in front of God. From this point on, the young adult can now join with other men as an equal, to discuss Torah Law. Many believe that it was this kind of debate that young Jesus was having with the teachers, when Mary and Joseph found him in the Temple, impressing them with his wisdom -- despite his tender age.
